Here’s a surprising truth, the future is malleable and thus is never certain. This is due to the fact that everyone involved in a situation has free will to make a change that may change it’s future outcome. Therefore, Yes or No Tarot reading questions are frowned upon. But no worries, the below 4 tips for answering dreaded Yes or No Tarot reading questions will save your readings.
Insights from Tarot readings are just possibilities seen today, if nothing changes. But of course something could change between now and then. Therefore, I strive to refrain from giving predictive Yes or No outcome Tarot readings.
Instead, I work with my Querent (reading requestor) to co-create a less fate-based reading question. Instead of a Yes/No question we ask what might they experience regarding their chosen topic. Thus, we can gain more insights than a simple Yes or No will give.
Nonetheless, I’m often asked a Yes/No question regarding a single card, or other aspect of a Querent’s reading. Due to this, I‘ve established a personal method from the below 4 tips for answering dreaded Yes or No Tarot reading questions.
Whether or not you prefer to read Yes/No outcome Tarot readings, you will be well served by acquiring your own method for answering a Yes/No Tarot question.
Determining Yes Cards vs No Cards
A common method to answer a Yes or No question is to already have chosen and compiled your personal list of Yes and No Tarot cards. Then when asked, using either the same deck you’ve conducted the reading with, or a fresh deck, you can shuffle and draw a card to answer Yes or No.
Among professional Readers, there are several methods in choosing which cards denote a Yes, and which cards denote a No. It doesn’t matter which method you choose as long as you choose before shuffling and conducting the reading.
1. Simple Yes or No Card Meaning Method
The simple method for determining Yes cards from No cards, is to consider the 22 Major Arcana, the 4 Aces, and the 16 Court cards denote Yes. Thus, the remaining 36 Minor Arcana cards denote No.
This gives you about a 54% chance of a Yes answer with 42 Yes cards, vs a 46% chance of a No answer with 36 No cards.
Having a better chance of a Yes answer is a plus, if the Yes answer denotes something the Querent wants to happen. Conversely, a Yes answer for the question; “Will I be laid off from my job?” is most likely a negative outcome for the Querent.
Another simple method is, using the even numbered cards as a Yes answer, and the odd numbered cards as a No answer. However, I find this method discombobulating, because then the I. Magician (Yes card), and the 9 of Cups (wishes will come true), 9 of Pentacles (enjoying abundance) and the Aces, number 1s, (positive new thing coming) all end up in the No answer column.
2. Complex Yes or No Card Meaning Method
The more complex method of determining Yes cards from No Cards is to go through the entire Tarot deck and assign a Yes to the cards you deem to have a positive meaning. Then assign a No meaning to the cards you deem to have a negative meaning.
Obvious No cards would be; the Tower, Death, the Devil, all the #5 suit cards, and pretty much all of the Swords non-Court cards. The remaining cards will be Yes and neutral cards. The neutral cards will need your decision on which way to read them, either Yes, No, or possibly Maybe.
3. Pendulum Yes or No Card Meaning Method
My personal method for determining a Yes or a No answer doesn’t involve designating Yes and No cards. For I’m a big proponent of using a pendulum to enhance the accuracy of Tarot readings. As a former Accountant turned Entrepreneur, efficiency is the name of my game. Lol!
I use a pendulum I’ve programmed to give me a Yes answer with a forward and backward swing, and a No answer with a side to side swing. This mimicks the typical head movements for Yes and No answers.
When purchasing a pendulum, choose the one that moves for you when you hold it, and be sure to clear it of others’ energy when you get it home. Clear your pendulum by rinsing it under a running faucet or through the sage or incense smoke, or a candle flame. And at the same time intend that anyone else’s attached energy leave the pendulum and ground into the Earth.
After you’ve programmed your pendulum, accuracy will take some time for you and your pendulum to hook up and connect. After you make the connection, you can rely on consistent accurate answers from your pendulum. To speed up the process, carry your pendulum with you, and/or sleep with it under your pillow.
How to Use Your Pendulum for Answering Dreaded Yes or No Tarot Reading Questions
A pro pendulum tip is; to choke up the excess chain in your palm, while grasping the pendulum about an inch up the chain from the top of the pendulum. Then hold the pendulum pointing downward with your hand, while pinching the chain between your index finger and thumb. Most who pendulum professionally, hold their pendulum in this way.
4. How About Maybe? – Using “If,” “Likely,” or “Unlikely” to Qualify Yes or No Answers
If you are like me, and don’t wish to predict an absolute future, then using “if,” and/or “likely” can serve as a qualifing work-around for you.
If This, Then it’s Likely to Happen
I will note the insights and advice given by the cards in the reading, and qualify a Yes answer received with any of the above methods. Then I will state “it looks like blank will likely happen, if the Querent does, or doesn’t perform the X, Y, or Z advised action steps.
If This, Then it’s Unlikely to Happen
Conversely, I will note the insights and advice given by the cards in the reading, and qualify a received No answer. Then I will state, It looks like blank is unlikely to happen, if the Querent does, or doesn’t perform the X, Y, or Z advised action steps.
You get the idea. “If” and “Likely” or “Unlikely” take your answer from a predictive Yes or No to a Maybe. Your exact wording will depend on if it’s a wanted, or unwanted outcome for the Querent.
Final Words for Answering Dreaded Yes or No Tarot Reading Questions
Remember, any seen future outcome can be changed. For the Querent, or someone else involved in the situation, can change something today that changes the future outcome.
By figuring out what you will do if you receive the inevitable Yes or No question, and practicing it ahead of time, you’ll be prevented from loosing your equilibrium and flow in conducting your readings.
If you don’t already have your own method of answering Yes or No questions, I hope you will try one of the methods featured here. Best of Luck, and Happy Taroting!
