Lord Ganesha, the Hindu elephant-headed god, is revered as the “Remover of Obstacles” and “Patron of Arts and Sciences.” Thus, the theme of the Whispers of Lord Ganesha Oracle deck is removing one’s obstacles to success and prosperity.
Late author, Angela Hartfield and artist Ekaterina Golovanova teamed up to create this gorgeous and whimsical deck featuring Lord Ganesha. Here they’ve enlisted Lord Ganesha to impart his great wisdom and blessings for good fortune on users of this deck.
In spite of his large size, Ganesha is quite nimble. And with his extra pair of arms and hands he’s able to adeptly clear obstacles from one’s path.
Moreover, Ganesha’s strong intellect and deep compassion for the difficulties of others is unparalleled. And what a memory he has!
Whispers of Lord Ganesha Boxed Set
The Whispers of Lord Ganesha Oracle was published in 2016 by Blue Angel, but is now distributed by LLewelyn Publishing. And the deck is available at this Amazon link, https://a.co/d/eHAOYGm.
This deck comes in a mid-sized boxed set with 50 beautiful cards and a 92 page companion book.
The cards are of decent card stock and their matte slick surface make them glide easily when shuffling.
However, the cards are rather large and hard to handle with my smallish hands. But they are so cute I persevere using them anyway!
Whispers of Lord Ganesha Companion Book
Full disclosure: I’m an Angela Hartfield fan. She authored many Oracle deck companion books with her beautifully spiritual writing. And I own many of them. There is a definite void in the spiritual content world due to her 2021 passing. I’m truly saddened that there will be no new Angela Hartfield Oracle deck companion books published in the future.
This 92 page companion book is a real treat for readers, for Hartfield’s writing is exquisite. And the print of her text is of decent size for reading with my aged eyes.
The companion book begins with an introduction to Ganesha and advice for clearing your deck. Then, it gives three reading spreads which we will discuss in a below section.
Companion Book Card Messages
Next, the text gives a detailed and lengthy message explanation in the numeric order of the cards. Card explanations in Oracle decks are in number order if cards are numbered. Or if cards are unnumbered, they fall into alphabetical order of the messages.
First, Hartfield offers a quick single sentence of advice for each card. This is helpful when time restraints prevent a thorough reading of the lengthy card explanation.
Second, Hartfield offers a lengthy explanation of the card’s message. And her spiritual wisdom imparted in these card explanations is unparalleled. In fact, I have actually read this companion book through several times just for the spiritual benefit. And, I have underlined most of it.
Although the messages printed on the cards seem self-explanatory, do look up the expanded message in the book. For Hartfield’s expanded messages are transcendent.
Companion Book Images
Sadly, the card images in the companion book are tiny and in black and white. These cards are so beautiful and so colorful, it’s a crime not to offer them in full-color and larger size. I do hope the publisher adds larger color images in a future update of this companion book.
Companion Book Spreads
Furthermore, Hartfield includes three spreads in her book:
- Three Card Spread (Past, Present, Future)
- Relating Spread (Relationships)
- Ganesha’s Horseshoe Spread (Resolving Obstacles)
Although I don’t give readings with Oracle decks, many do. Therefore, these spreads are a plus for Oracle deck readers who love to see unique spreads included in Oracle deck companion books.
Whispers of Lord Ganesha’s Artwork
This deck’s cards are labeled with a number and a one or two word message. Consequently, their numbers make the cards easy to look up in the companion book, which is also numerical.
The cards’ large size gives artist Golovanova ample space for quite a bit of detail in the artwork. Subsequently, these cards are chock full of detailed imagery.
Moreover, the card images are crisp with deeply saturated jewel tone coloring. And I find the colors used in these images stunning.
Golovanova’s images pull from many legends around Ganesha including a trained mouse he uses for transportation.
In her images Golovanova depicts Ganesha with religious relics associated with him and engaged in various activities. For we may observe Ganesha playing music, dancing, studying, meditating, worshipping, and even napping. Consequently, the images are whimsical and almost humorous.
Notably, cards numbers 21-27 represent the seven major Chakras exhibiting their associated color. Additionally, Ganesha is holding a sphere with the Chakra’s symbol etched on these seven cards.
- 21 – Determination – Root Chakra – Red
- 22 – Harmony – Sacral Chakra – Orange
- 23 – Empowerment – Solar Plexus Chakra – Yellow
- 24 – Wholeness – Heart Chakra – Green
- 25 – Be Candid – Throat Chakra – Blue
- 26 – Insight – 3rd Eye Chakra – Indigo
- 27 – Enlightenment – Crown Chakra – Purple
Final Words for Whispers of Lord Ganesha
The Whispers of Lord Ganesha is one of my favorite Oracle decks. For I like to pull a card from several different Oracle decks daily for advice and inspiration. And this deck is often among the selection.
Due to its whimsical images, this beautiful deck falls into the “stinkin’ cute” category. But don’t disregard its companion book. For Hartfield’s expanded card messages are spiritually profound and speak directly to your heart and soul. Furthermore, Hartfield offers sage advice for navigating your everyday life situations, as well as concerns on your spiritual path.
I hope you will give this deck a try. For I know you will love working with Lord Ganesha as much as I do.
